HERBAL TREATMENT:

The first consultation with the Medical Herbalist usually takes about an hour. He will take a full medical history as well as a detailed consideration of the main complaint and any necessary clinical examination. He will take the pulse and blood pressure and often test a urine sample. He will seek and apply herbs to the underlying cause of the problem, as Medical Herbalists treat the patient, not the disease. Treatment will be holistic and combine herbal medicine with lifestyle and dietary advice.

The Medical Herbalist will also know when the condition is best seen by a GP or other therapist and the significance of any current orthodox medication.

Follow-up consultations to assess progress will last at least half an hour. How many are needed, and their spacing, will depend on the nature of the condition and the patient's progress.
